In the 40 year history of Cornelsen & Partner consultancy the extraordinary building program for EOS has been the grandest and most exciting challenge to date. At 305 feet, the three mast schooner is currently the largest sailing yacht in the world which makes her unusually short building period of only 36 months, from signing to delivery, especially impressive.

Befitting a yacht of this stature, Germany’s Lürssen shipyard in Bremen was very much the obvious choice when selecting an appropriate shipyard. Widely known for their engineering capacity the yard focused their attention to precisely execute the construction of a yacht that had a very detailed and complex specification.

Appreciating the complexity of the sail handling systems alone, the German yard was quick to recognize the need for a specialist subcontractor to take on the design and engineering of the complete sail plan, including masts, booms, and furlers, as well as deck equipment which includes an extensive arrangement of automated hydraulic winches pulling loads in excess of 30 tons. Calling upon Rondal from neighbouring Holland a perfect team was formed to execute American naval architect Bill Langan’s requirements for a high level of sailing performance within the elegant and classic lines that EOS now exhibits in her striking dark green hull form.

To match form and function the internationally renowned Francois Catroux working from his Paris office was asked to perform his mastery to develop an interior styling that surrounds guests in nothing less than classic, time proven luxury.

After five years of globetrotting EOS was extensively refitted in 2011. Under the supervision of Cornelsen & Partners and directed by Royal Huisman the three-masted schooner received a major overhaul at the Icon Shipyard in Dutch Harting.
